Ministry: Operators not to sell subscribers’ data without consent
MOSCOW, Mar 29 (PRIME) -- Russian connection operators will not be authorized to sell data of their subscribers without their consent, a spokesperson for the Digital Development Ministry told PRIME on Monday.
“For example, the people often complain about advertising calls. Now without client consent, connection operators will not be able to sell phone numbers with the indication of gender, age, and connection costs of their subscribers,” the spokesperson said.
The ministry prepared amendments to the law on personal data, including revision of the requirement on processing anonymized information so that a person’s consent is needed not only to use personal data but also to anonymize it.
The government is also supposed to grant local IT companies access to anonymized data from the state information systems and receive anonymized data from the personal data operators only for state functions.
